What do you need to know about the Via Ferrata?

Via Ferrata coming from the Italian word for "Iron Way'. This style of climbing was originally used to allow troops to gain vantage points on their enemies back in World War II.

Attached to permanently fixed cables on the mountain for protection,  you'll climb your way up exposed rock to the summit of Fleetwith Pike.

From the summit you'll be treated to spectacular views across the Lake District and Alfred Wainwrights favourite fells in the Buttermere Valley. This is the perfect activity regardless of weather.

Completing the Via Ferrata at Honister Slate Mine, Keswick is a truly memorable experience. The activity can be strenuous at times but there are always places to rest. A head for heights is sometimes needed but can also be a great place to challenge those fears in safe way.

NOTE: This activity is not suited for participants under the age 12 years old.
