Increase your techniques and master the skills to traverse the classic ridges and climb easy gullies in simple 'scrambling' terrain.
So you have been out in the winter mountains before and now want to progress on to something a little steeper or technical and to be able to explore further in the winter mountains with more confidence.
This course will see you learning the techniques to traverse some of the classic ridges like; Striding Edge on Helvellyn in the Lake District or CMD Arete on Ben Nevis, or one of the other many incredible UK mountain journeys.
(NOTE: THIS IS NOT A CLIMBING COURSE).
Evening
In the evenings we usually meet for an informal lecture to support the information given during the day. Typical topics include avalanche avoidance, emergency winter shelters or further training on winter navigation.
Our courses are either run from Aviemore on the East side of Scotland or the Fort William / Glencoe areas on the Western Coast.
These venues provide a perfect opportunity to access the snow line quickly and relatively easily allowing greater time for coaching of winter skills/an easier day. It is possible we may use the ski lifts to access the mountain. This is a small costs of which will need to be covered by the participants.

Given some simple avalanche awareness and avoidance tools and techniques, there is no reason why a winter mountaineer, skier, snowshoer or hill walker can't build their knowledge and skill level to plan and enjoy a safe day out in the wonderful winter mountains.
