Blencathra via Sharp Edge
Taking the next step in your scrambling journey
Ascending Blencathra via Sharp Edge is a bite sized adventure that comes with a kick.
Blencathra combines the old Cumbric translations of blain (meaning summit or bare hill) and cadeir or cathrach (meaning chair or seat).
Looking at the silhouette of the mountain from afar and standing atop the bare summit you can see how its got its name. However to reach the pinnacle of this mountainous 'chair' there is a dramatic spine ridge to cross. Sharp Edge forms your tantalising challenge, a tough yet achievable scramble to reach the summit.
