Scafell Pike

As we set off for this iconic summit, we aim to keep the team together moving as one. After an initial steady path, the route becomes steadily steeper, however there are fantastic resting points throughout the route that give ample opportunity to soak up the impressive views.

Another useful element of this out and back route is that it gives teammates the opportunity to rest or stop when they need to and makes this an accessible, achievable goal for a range of abilities. 

With some training and determination, and conditions permitting, Scafell Pike can be in sight. 

Meeting at approx 0800am at the National Trust Lake Head carpark in Wasdale, we have a briefing and welcome the team. 

With just under 9km hiking to the summit, we set off at a steady pace and pause to cross Lingmell Gill. Continuing up the winding steps, we eventually reach the Hollow Stones which is often a great spot for a snack. 

Following the dog leg in the path, we bend round to the left towards Lingmell Col. Now, the summit feels within close reach. 

The last leg continues up loose rock and rising path, until we reach the summit for a celebratory selfie. 

On the return, we follow the same route back down to the carpark.
