Staying fuelled for your expedition

Nerves, change in environment and schedule, or focusing on other activities can all be factors that lead to participants potentially not getting sufficient hydration and food throughout their expedition.

But with not enough nutrious fuel to keep you going, energy levels can drop and focusing on navigating from A to B can feel more difficult.

Top tips for maintaining your intake

  • Keeping your favourite snacks in small bags that are easily accessible such as in your rucksack waist pockets
  • Make a habit of sipping from your bottle whenever you pause to access the map
  • Find a water bottle that has markers indicating how much you should have drank by a certain time in the day
  • Review your planned route and identify good points along the journey that will have view points you can sit and enjoy whilst hydrating and having a feed
